Don't know how I missed this one. The September issue of Optimize included a pro-con piece featuring Lou Dobbs, CNN anchor and author of Exporting America: Why Corporate Greed is Shipping American Jobs Overseas, and Sunil Wadhwani, CEO of service provider iGate.
The topic: Is outsourcing killing jobs? You can guess what their respective positions are. Mr. Dobbs offers a brief recap of his book. And Mr. Wadhwani lobs them back with the typical "provide training and extend benefits" argument.
One interesting point offered by Mr. Wadhwani: "For every percentage-point increase in productivity, 1.4 million jobs are lost. A 3% productivity increase means we lose 4 million jobs. Yet, where's the demand that we slow productivity?"
