Interesting little piece in the November 8, 2004 ComputerWorld on how to manage staff left behind after an outsourcing initiative has taken place. The fact is, you can't manage them, according to "After the Outsourcing."

Naomi Karten, who consults on these matters and is quoted in the article, says the worst way to respond is by ignoring people's feelings. "'Many managers tend to look the other way and say, "Let's get on with business." And that can be the wrong thing to do… In fact, that approach can cause the transition to take longer.'"
