Ziff-Davis is trying to revitalize the "virtual" tradeshow idea by hosting a two-day online event March 30-31. You can register for free and read the agenda for "Enterprise Solutions" here. It consists of live presentations via Webinar — including tradeshow exhibit hours. The reason I bring it up here is because the second day features this 45-minute session starting at noon Pacific time:

Hot Button Panel: Look Before You Leap Into Offshore Outsourcing

Offshore outsourcing has become a dirty phrase in the business community, but a necessary practice for companies needing to cut costs to remain competitive. As sensitivity toward employing U.S. workers reaches a fever pitch, many organizations are contemplating whether contracting foreign companies and workers to handle service, support and call center tasks is worth the backlash. Even once the often unpopular decision to outsource non core functions is made, enterprises run into a host of obstacles including language barriers, technology integration, policies and procedures, and putting in place the necessary IT infrastructure to enable seamless operations.

A panel of experts will address the needed steps an organization must take before choosing an outsourcing partner. The discussion will include the dos and don’ts of outsourcing, what job functions are best for this model, and the technology integration issues at hand.

Moderator: Elliot Markowitz, Editorial Director, Ziff Davis Media eSeminars

Presenters: Lance Travis, VP Research AMR; Jacque Johnson, Director of Public Policy, CompTIA

I'll be sure to tune in and report back any practical details I glean from the experts.
