The Outsourcing Center reports on a survey done by Archstone Consulting and Duke University's Center for International Business Education and Research on actual savings achieved in offshoring work. Results among Fortune 500 companies said that 63% of companies experienced grater than 30% annual savings. Of those, 14% reported savings greater than 50%.
Another interesting result: "A third of the respondents (31 percent) achieved their service level goals within the first five months of their contracts while 75 percent did so within 12 months."
However, I call into question this assumption: "The study concluded 'offshoring delivers faster results than average domestic improvement efforts.' The authors could only come to that conclusion if they'd asked about internal IT improvement efforts. I doubt they did.
