Here’s something you don’t read about every day. American Power Conversion Corp. (APC) is offering the InfraStruXure Express, a 2,500 square foot data center that resides inside a tractor-trailer — excellent for temporary set-ups, like the kind you’d find at festivals and sporting events or, of course, situations where normal operations aren’t possible because of disaster. According to company literature, it has rack capacity of about 504U.

Coverage in the April 25, 2005 issue of eWeek says you can lease the rig for about $20,000 a month, not including the servers. (I can’t find the article online yet; maybe it’ll surface later today.) Or, if you’re looking to upgrade your Hummer, you could buy one of these for an easy $1.5 million.

One interesting option offered by APC: power by bio-fuel. Just how many French fries can one IT team consume?
