Here’s some salary data from a site called PayScale that I haven’t seen before…
It lists a rolling tally of salaries in India for various IT positions
According to the data from 772 participants, the median salary for a software engineer is $6,840. A senior software engineer/developer/programmer earns a median salary of $11,377 (according to the responses from 649 people). Project managers (221 responses) and software and hardware architects (122 responses) do the best: $20,520 and $20,619 respectively.
The site also offers median salaries by city (Bangalore leads with a median salary of $11,776) and results by other categories (gender, state, company size, etc.)
