As a small break from the usual IT- and business process-oriented outsourcing this site usually focuses on, we’re sharing information about a new breed of service that I read about in the back pages of the feature section of my Sunday paper.

That’s Gratitude, a Baltimore company, specializes in handling your thank-you notes — particularly for weddings. That’s right. The weary bride can outsource the writing of those hundreds of thank-you notes she’s expected to produce as a small display of gratitude for the thought, effort and expense put out by her guests.

According to coverage by Newsday reporter Shawna Vanness, “a wedding of 150 runs $4.50 to $4.75 per card if the couple provides the stationery.”

Here’s a sample of what the company produces:

    Dear Debbie,

Thank you so much for the donkey sculpture. It is obvious that you put a lot of thought into your gift. We appreciate this and your kindness more than you know. We are truly fortunate to have such wonderful family supporting us as we start our married life together.

    Fondly,
    Jen and John

Currently, it appears the firm uses domestic freelancers to handle the work.
