Bait and Switch Exists in Outsourcing

When Cyrill Elstchinger suggested to clients in a Sourcingmag.com article that you should “match picture IDs with the candidates presented,” he probably had this scenario in mind…

“Anonymous” writes in InfoWorld about a contract programmer who interviewed well and performed dismally. This candidate came from a company running a scam — providing impressive candidates for phone interviews, then switching in different people when the job started.

Although Anonymous’ story involves somebody hired for onsite work, it applies to outsourced work as well. If the individual candidates matter to you, figure out a way to confirm they are who they say they are.
