Gaming Goes Global

Back in Oct 2005, I wrote about the emergence of game offshoring to India., so I was interested when I stumbled across S. Karat’s late January 2006 post about how Tiga, the UK-based Independent Games Developers Association, was looking for partners for game development in India.

Smart organizations worldwide see countries like India and China not only as sources of cheap labor, but also as rapidly growing markets, so I’m not sure whether the partnerships envisioned by Tiga might focus on marketing or offshore development. You can download a 20-slide PDF summarizing a 2005 survey on export issues from Rick Gibson, director of Games Investor Consulting, Ltd., conducted the survey (15 respondents).
