Oh, do I like this brief profile of banker Elaine Agather. I don't know what she's like to work with or live with, but she offers eight "simple" rules by which to operate in changing conditions — like mergers or outsourcing gigs. (This was originally published in the Dallas Morning News, but I can't get its free reg system to work for me — so I've found it elsewhere online. Blessed be, Google.)

    Here's one I especially like:

    2) Like what you do.

Note that she didn't say, Do what you like.

"Deal with the cards you're dealt. Those who excel figure out how to like what they're doing and make the most of it. Some fight it from day one, and it becomes a real problem."
